Advanced Processing

Multi-Volume Requests

ReShare supports the ability to fill a multi-volume request by associating more than one item with a filled request. This functionality allows libraries to fill requests for a single title that includes multiple volumes.

A complete guide to managing multi-volume requests as both the requesting (borrowing) library and the supplying (lending) library can be found here: Multi-Volume Requests

Adding Loan Conditions

Lending processors can conditionalize a request to either alert the borrowing library or require the borrowing library to agree to certain terms before lending an item. Common conditional reasons are circulation restrictions due to the value or fragility of the material, shipping/packing requirements, or requesting approval to partially fill (e.g. the borrowing library requested a five-volume set and the supplying library can only provide four of the five).

To add a loan condition, open the flow view of a request, and select “Add a loan condition” under More Options.

A pop-up window will appear with conditional reasons and an optional note field.

Choose whether or not to pause processing while awaiting a response and click “Add loan condition” to submit.

Pausing Processing

When sending a loan condition, the supplier may decide to pause processing while waiting for a response from the requester.

  • If processing is paused, the request will remain in a state of Loan conditions sent until the requester responds. The supplier can also manually mark loan conditions as Agreed if they have become aware that the supplier has agreed through another communication channel.

  • If processing is not paused, the request will remain in its current state and be available for continued processing. This option assumes that the delivery of the loan conditions is binding without an active response from the requester.
