ILL loan policy

The “ILL loan policy” field on a Directory entry indicates a library’s current lending status and allows a library to completely disable lending.

Using the ILL loan policy field

The “ILL loan policy” field is found in the “Custom properties” section of the Directory entry record. To set this policy:

  1. Open Directory app.

  2. Select your library’s “institution” directory entry.

  3. Click Actions>Edit.

  4. Choose your policy from the “ILL loan policy” dropdown menu.

  5. Click “Save.”

Field values

The “ILL loan policy” field includes the following values. Note that not all values are currently used by ReShare at this time and exist to support future expansion of the product.

  • Lending all types: If your institution directory entry is set to this value, you will be considered as a supplier for requests placed by the other members of your lending network.

  • Not lending: If your institution directory entry is set to this value, you will be NOT considered as a supplier for requests placed by the other members of your lending network. You will not appear in the rota for any requests or receive any new requests in your Supply app.

  • Lending physical only: Not currently used. Do not select this value.

  • Lending electronic only: Not currently used. Do not select this value.

Propagation across the network

As with all fields on the Directory record, changes to the “ILL loan policy” field are first made on local tenant, and then must be propagated across the network. This process is usually completed within 24 hours. If a change to your policy has not yet propagated, you may still receive requests from other libraries until their Directories are updated with the new value.

If you need to turn off lending urgently, please contact your service provider to have them force a Directory refresh and update the values immediately
