RT: NONE - Virtual item displaying in Webpac

Description

Zendesk: https://knowint.zendesk.com/agent/tickets/5625

St. Charles City-County is reporting that a virtual item is displaying in their Webpac:

Hello,

Carol noticed that a MOBIUS item, specifically from MRRL (barcode 31331008065312), is showing up in our online catalog (PAC).

This is the first instance we've seen of a MOBIUS item coming in that is marked to display in our PAC:

You can see from the screenshot above that the owning library is OpenRS, which should not be seen as an actual location in our PAC.

I can manually uncheck the display in pac message in LEAP but now I'm wondering if there are more instances. Is this something that we need to be checking individual MOBIUS item bib and item records for?

We have obviously interpreted this differently, for me it is just the case of setting the display in opac field to be NO when we create the virtual record, so it dosn’t display in the local opac.

Noting that OpenRS is Organisation ID 22, which is the (necessary) ILL Location that has been set up for St Charles City-County.

Parking link from screenshot (which is dynamic, so details are not the same as screenshot)

We may be at cross-purposes with terminology, but just checking that the supporting screenshot shows the Bib Record (rather than the MOBIUS Item) is checked for Display in PAC. If the item is unchecked, I would expect it to be suppressed from display in Locate. I don’t know how Vega would handle this. That’s one for .

I defer to on the workflow specifics here. What I’d ask though is what is the outcome that the library are looking for?

  • If it’s to hide the item records from search results, will the upcoming Collection mechanism support that?

  • If it’s to hide OpenRS as the owning branch, that’s maybe something to handle within Vega.

Alternatively, this may be addressed by https://openlibraryfoundation.atlassian.net/browse/DCB-1614 . What would be useful to know is what the Shelf Location for the item in question is. can we try and get that info from the customer via CS while we wait for Tim to return please, and a direct link to it in their catalog?
