Tips for Starting UI Mockups
- Brainstorm what you like and don't like about current applications
- Bring screen captures- highlight important changes you'd like to change
- Start with storyboarding workflow: how do you start? Search? Then what?
- List the pages you'll need, and group them together to complete a workflow or function: 1,2,3,4
- For each page, simply list the fields (no order required) you wish to include
- Now organize the fields into logical groupings on the page

- How do you want the groupings to appear (sections, vertical tabs, horizontal tabs, boxes)?
- Now the fun begins- how do you want to display each field? Make selections- Drop-downs, tips, previews, lookups?.
- Take all of the above and capture in wireframe mockups using the tool of your choice- Balsamiq, Dreamweaver/Front Page, napkins, whiteboards (take a pic!)
