Hello,
We are in the process of weeding and are checking OpenRS for last copies. I have the Title Secrets from a Caterer's Kitchen: The indispensable Guide for planning a party.

For sake of time I have been doing mostly keyword searches and just typing the first part or few words of a title. Success rate is not always great and I do have to try by title or ISBN, etc. However, when I got to this title, I decided to point out what I am seeing. Now I know there are plenty of indexing, searching issues and some things are being fixed, etc. I really don't know at this point where this issue is in regards to being fixed.

When I do a keyword search for Secrets from a Caterers Kitchen (WITHOUT the 's on Caterer's) I get this result

When I do a keyword search for Secrets from a Caterer's Kitchen (WITH the 's) I get this result

https://openrs.searchmobius.org/instances/dc9aa3f4-1766-4c86-a8cd-0d70760071fa?option=keyword&query=Secrets%20from%20a%20caterer%27s%20kitchen

A title search for 's brings the correct result but no 's returns 0 results. Which makes sense for a title search.

However, why is every piece of punctuation required for a keyword search? Even when I type in just part of the title such as Secrets from a caterer's I get this result

https://openrs.searchmobius.org/search?option=keyword&query=Secrets%20from%20a%20caterer%27s

But just part of the title without the 's - Secrets from a caterers I get this result

https://openrs.searchmobius.org/search?option=keyword&query=Secrets%20from%20a%20caterers

The title I am looking for is not even in the list.

Shouldn't punctuation be ignored in a keyword search? What is the status of keyword searching in OpenRS? BTW, doesn't matter how I type it in Locate it returns the result I am looking for.

• When searching LOCATE at https://jclibrary.searchmobius.org/search the apostrophe does not matter. The correct/expected result is returned for keyword and title searches with and without the apostrophe ('s)
