Use FOLIO instance 99x MARC field to control display or suppression in DCB

Description

Current situation

FOLIO libraries want to prevent ingest of instances, such as non-sharable electronic resources, into the DCB union catalog. The recommendation by EBSCO Implementation Consultants was to use a statcode but they’ve recently suggested a 99x MARC field to store a value that equates to the DCB action taken when the “suppress from discovery” flag is set. This would bring parity to Sierra which has additional suppression fields to prevent Sierra bibs from ingest.

  • Feels like should really have been a grander issue, preferably with -A -B -C and -D suffixes. #StarTrek

If this is done, can you reference the code changes or the Jira where the work was done in and then I will move forward with testing. Thanks.

can you give us an example suppressed instance record from a FOLIO library that is ingested on staging please so we can check what data we are working with currently? Better still, a link to the shared index cluster record in DCB Admin is helpful.
