ERROR: This item will not fill this request because it does not belong to a responder branch for this pickup location.

Description

The Error “This item will not fill this request because it does not belong to a responder branch for this pickup location." is sometimes returned and moves the request into an ERROR state, we should have a way of handling this more gracefully.

Attached are the requests in this state generated by script generated by script notBelongToResponderBranch.sql

Some requests are being supplied successfully, others are not. So far I’ve seen ones where local item location code is 14, which suggests that’s not configured for SCCL’s responder location. Be good to know if there are any others and then share with MCO / SCCL for local config checks.

There is no workflow fix that we can put in DCB for this error, and the details presented in Admin are as good as we can get for libraries to take appropriate action. So, other than communicating the SCCL locations involved, no other action for us here at this time.

Last change for the server.json for SCCL was 15th May

I haven't heard of this issue until now, I don't know if SCCL has made
any changes with their branch.

Resolution: Responder branch needs to be set up by the library per instructions in .

Note

These all seem to be related to St Charles City-County Library only, but we haven’t seen any recurrence since 24 August

do you recall whether there was an ILL location config update request for SCCL that may have been processed around that time?

Do you know if the library has taken some action to address responder branch locally. They have had successfully completed requests that have started and finalised since then.
