ERROR: PAPIService returned [-4], with message: Incorrect syntax near '5c08'.

Description

When placing a hold with the supplying library we occasionally get the error “PAPIService returned [-4], with message: Incorrect syntax near '5c08'.“ which takes into the ERROR state, we should handle this more gracefully.

The attached file lists the requests currently in this state, generated using the script incorrectSyntax.sql

There are currently 35 requests with a PAPI [-4] error. Most return with this code: '5c08' so it seems like something we can tailor to each error code.

It doesn’t matter. This was originally flagged when we were investigating FOLIO migration of ExternalSystemIDs, where identifiers for Sierra patrons were not de-duped or consolidated.

Supporting UUIDs as barcodes was the suggested resolution, but this is very much a data clean-up issue, per Brooks recommendation:

Their records need to be cleaned up in FOLIO to de-duplicate them. I strongly urged them to do so in Sierra before migration.

Not sure that it matters but there is more than the value '5c08' for the PAPI error. See this spreadsheet for others:
