Fill multi-volume request
The fill multi-volume request action lets the supplier specify several item volumes or parts for lending and associate their item barcodes with under one request record.
NCIP interactions
If NCIP is enabled, the fill multi-volume request action will use the CheckoutItem message to perform a checkout of each item in the local library management system.
If the NCIP CheckoutItem call fails, check the audit log for an error message. In this situation, you can either:
Troubleshoot the problem in your local library management system, then retry the fill request action in ReShare.
Ask your local administrator to disable NCIP in the Resource Sharing Settings area. When NCIP is disabled, you can perform the fill multi-volume request action again without triggering the CheckoutItem call.
Action workflow
Navigate to a request that is in the Searching (returnables) state.
Click the Fill multi-volume request action from the More options list of actions.
A new modal window will display where you can add each item’s barcode to be loaned as part of the request:
Click the Add volume action to add the first item’s barcode to the list:
Click the Add volume action to add the remaining item barcodes as necessary:
Check to ensure the correct item barcodes / labels have been added to the list. If any are incorrect you can remove them from the list using the garbage can icon to the right. Repeat step 5 to add the correct item barcode in.
Once all the item barcodes have been added click the Fill multi-volume request button to fill the request.
If the NCIP call fails, the request will remain in the Searching (returnables) state
If the Fill multi-volume request action is selected the “Fill multi-volume request” modal window appears and the items added for the multi-volume request will shows as “Filled; Awaiting LMS checkout”. If the NCIP Checkout Item failed due to an incorrect barcode, staff can remove the item from the list using the garbage can icon to the right and add a new volume to the list Once the issue is resolved staff can click the Fill multi-volume request button to fill the request once again to trigger the NCIP Checkout item message.
Combine fill request and mark shipped into one step
It is possible to combine the actions of fill request and mark shipped into one step when filling a multi-volume request.
To combine the actions of fill request and mark shipped into one step, go to Settings>Resource Sharing>State/action configuration and set the Combine supplier actions 'fill request' and 'mark shipped' to Yes.
Once you click the Fill multi-volume request and mark shipped button and the multi-volume request is successfully filled and shipped it will no longer be possible to add any further item volumes to the request as the request is moved to a state of Shipped and no actions are available to modify the request in that state.
