GOKb Review Request: Publisher supplied in ingested file is different to any already present on TI

Full text of review request

Publisher supplied in ingested file is different to any already present on TI. Added new publisher name as a publisher on title.

Description

This review task is generated if the publisher provided by an OpenRefine ingest is different from any of the publishers already present on a title record in GOKb. You will need to review the title record, determine if the added publisher is legitimate, and update the appropriate metadata on the title record.

Solution

  1. From the review request screen, navigate to the title record.
  2. Investigate the title to verify that both the new and existing publishers are or were legitimate publishers of the title.
  3. Sources you may wish to use include:
    1. The publisher's website
    2. Ulrich's
    3. ISSN Portal
    4. OCLC
  4. Be sure to check that the publisher is in fact a publisher and not an imprint.

If the new publisher was added in error

  1. On the publishers tab, set the combo status to deleted for the incorrect publisher.
  2. Close the review request

If the new publisher is correct

  1. Populate the Publisher From and To fields for the new and/or old publishers.
  2. Sometimes, it can be difficult to determine all of the publication dates, so only include the dates those you can confirm. Note: it is most important to assign an end date to the old publisher and a start date to the new publisher – this will cause the "current publisher" field to be populated correctly.
  3. Close the review request.
