OLE stores data relating to serials in two places:
* the Serials Receiving record, where new serial issues or volumes are received
* the OLE Holdings and E-holdings records in the OLE Docstore, where holdings statements are usually stored
Data for holdings and e-holdings records is loaded as part of the general Docstore data loading.
Serials records can be created and populated with legacy data via the OLE user interface, by doing a Batch Process of the type "Serial Record Import". The import process asks for three files, to populate three tables in OLE:
1) Serial Receiving Record -- this table contains basic info for the Serials Receiving Record, and contains a linking ID for a Docstore holdings record
2) Serial Receiving Type -- this table contains the types of receipts allowed (such as main, supplement and index)
3) Serial Record History -- this table contains a row for each issue received
The files to be loaded can either be in either .csv or .xml format. The columns of the .csv files, or the elements of the XML file, must correspond exactly to the column structure of these tables:
